“We Need Mental Health Control, Not Gun Control!” and Other Meaningless Bluster

“Thoughts and Prayers” is an insult

How long will rejection of common sense gun control continue? How long before every one of us loses a loved one to gun violence, or are killed ourselves?

Having the USA rated #1 in gun deaths is hardly a statistic to brag about. And throwing thoughts and prayers at survivors helps no one. It only rubs salt in their wounds.

We need action, but it’s being blocked all over this country. Greg Abbott claims that Texas is focusing on mental health to curb gun violence, while cutting funding for mental health services at the same time.

He’s done nothing but blow hot air and make saving lives harder since 19 little kids and 2 teachers were killed and 17 others shot in Uvalde under his watch. He’s done everything he can to get everyone in Texas armed like it’s 1881.

And he’s only one of the heartless “public servants” who could and should do something to put even the mildest restrictions on guns but are removing them instead. Even in the “Wild West,” many towns implemented some form of gun control. If “all lives matter,” why are our 2nd amendment loving politicians willingly complicit in killing people?

A Twitter conversation set me onto creating the art and writing this rant. I have personally known seven people who have either been murdered or committed suicide with guns.
